As many of you may know, the Berkshire Bird Paradise had a bad fire recently and lost not only a structure but a number of incredible birds. The Dubachers who run the sanctuary are amazing and knowledgeable people and just taking a tour through their facility is literally “paradise.”
I have been in touch with Liz Dubacher several times, and after asking a few questions and obtaining some information from her, I am now putting a team of volunteers together to go to the sanctuary on Saturday, Sept. 21 and do whatever can be done that day to help them.
Whether you have some type of equipment that can be used, swing a mean hammer, or just want to throw some gloves on and help breakdown a structure, move some brush, or nothing physical at all — there is so much they need help with! Please consider being part of the Hudson Valley Community College volunteer crew. Family members welcome also, but not very young children.
Even if you only have a few hours that day, it would mean so much!
If you are interested in being part of the team, please email me at t.hicks@hvcc.edu with your name and a contact (not work) number so that I can coordinate the list, and keep you informed as the date gets closer!
Come on HVCC family, lets pull together to help an awesome place right in our own backyard!
Thank you!
